Well City Fox Cities Gains a Third Platinum Sponsor
September 22, 2010
We are pleased to announce Well City Fox Cities has another Platinum sponsor! Affinity Medical Group generously donated $5000 to help offset the cost of running the Well City initiative with our all-volunteer Advisory Board.
This funding allows us to have more visibility in the community by hosting and participating in wellness events. It also gives us financial backing for the “Adopt-A-Student” program we offer to the participating school districts, enabling students to submit a wellness idea they want to implement in their classroom, their school, their district or the community. Affinity Medical Group joins ThedaCare and Network Health Plan as our Platinum Sponsors. A big Thank You to all three!
Wellness Council 20th Annual Worksite Wellness Conference
September 14, 2010
Focusing on results and increasing active participation in employer-sponsored wellness programs was the focus of the 20th Annual Worksite Wellness Conference. This year’s conference, held at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells on September 14th, 2010, was not only educational but interactive as well. The day consisted of several concurrent breakout sessions:
• Best Practices & Lessons Learned at Gallup: Incentive Strategy
• Avoiding Legal Headaches Whiling Promoting Wellness
• Mayo Clinic: Best Practices on Motivating the Unmotivated
• What’s Missing? A Holistic, Relation-Based Alternative for Worksite Health Promotion
• CNH Case Study: High Engagement & Demonstrated Results
• Addressing Behavioral Health: Are You Using the Right Tools?
• Punished by Rewards: Re-Thinking the Use of Incentives in Workplace Health Promotion
• Strategies to Build a Culture of Health
• Evaluating Your Wellness Program: A Practical Approach
• Screening without Screening: Engaging Employees in Preventive Care
• Taking Successful Results-Oriented Clinical Programming to the Worksite
• Addressing Behavioral Health: Are You Using the Right Tools?
A wonderful lunch was served while keynote speaker David Baum, Ph.D. spoke about the Four Rules to a Simple Life. He enlightened the crowd with his own personal experiences, stories, and explained how to enhance personal quality of life.
Along with the breakout sessions there was time to visit vendor booths. These booths provided great information on a variety of wellness related services for companies -- everything from starting a wellness program to supplying exercise equipment.
This conference offered a great chance to meet new people with the same goals and values, and to discuss new ideas with others.

Education for Healthy Kids
August 13, 2010
The Education for Healthy Kids Summer Institute was a huge success with over 350 participants this year. Participants learned how important fitness is to keep the brain focused and alert, how to create a healthy culture within their work environments, and practical ways to improve daily nutritional choices.
The institute had a new energy this year with the infusion of the Well City Fox Cities initiative and more corporate sponsors. What a positive benefit it will be to our community if parents and children are hearing the same message of the importance of wellness and able to implement those ideas at home.
